McArthur – After dropping the first game of the double-header to the Fall River Bulldogs, 7-0, the Mt. Shasta Bears rebounded to take game-two 6-4. The Bears baseball squad stays at the .500 mark in the Shasta Cascade League at 4-4 (8-10). Mt. Shasta is in fourth place, ahead of Fall River (3-3), and trailing third place Trinity (6-2). Etna and Burney sit on top of the SCL at 5-1.

For the Bears, Trent Hough went 2-2. Erik Acord and Andrew Campbell were each 1-2, with a walk. Dallas Brooks was 1-3. Colin Waterman started on the hill and took the loss (5IP, 7R, 5H, 7BB, 2K).

The Bears took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning in game-two. Fall River put up four in the bottom of the fourth inning to lead 4-1. The Bears, however, came right back with three runs in the top of the fifth inning to knot it at 4-4. Mt. Shasta took the lead, 6-4, with two runs in the top of the seventh inning, and hung on to win.

The Bears’ Campbell went 4-4 with an RBI. Hough scored a pair of runs, and knocked in one, while going 3-4. Matt Houston also went 3-4, with a run, an RBI, and a double. Brooks was 1-2 with a run. Erik Thelander went 1-3, with a run, and an RBI.

Jake Padula went the distance on the mound for the win (7IP, 4R, 2H, 5BB, 4K).

The Bears will travel to Alturas to play a double-header against the Modoc Braves (1-5), on Friday, April 18.

In softball action, the Lady Bears lost both games of their double-header to Fall River (7-4, 7-6).
