The Mt. Shasta Bears and Etna Lady Lions sit on top of the Preseason Shasta Cascade League Basketball Coaches Poll. The Bears received six first place votes out of a possible seven. The Lady Lions captured five of a possible six first place votes. Other teams receiving first place votes were the Trinity Wolves and the Mt. Shasta Lady Bears. The Bears and Lady Lions are the defending SCL champions.

The poll is a cooperative effort between Sports Editor Richard Allan at The InterMountain News in Burney and Ray Wolf at SiskiyouYouth.com.

Poll methodology

Coaches were reached by phone, text or in person and asked to rank teams from top to bottom according to where the coach felt the teams would finish the SCL season. Point values were then assigned to each first place vote (7), second place vote (6) on down to seventh place (1). One girls coach was unable to participate. Point totals are given for the top four boys and girls teams to show their relative strength based on  how the coaches voted.
