MOUNT SHASTA – The Mt. Shasta Bears didn’t have a problem getting runners on base against the Trinity Wolves. They did have a problem getting them across the plate, as the Bears dropped both games of a twin bill, 4-3 and 10-1.

Trinity jumped to a 4-0 lead in the first inning of game, but wouldn’t score again. As it turned out, the Wolves had all they needed.

Zack Morris smacked a two-run dinger in the bottom of the second inning, and the Bears added another run in the fourth to narrow the margin to a single run, 4-3.

Mt. Shasta had a chance in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie or take the lead. With one out, Colin Waterman singled. Dylan Morris came in to pinch run for Waterman. Miguel Rodriguez hit a sharp grounder at the Trinity first baseman that was two hot to handle and reached on the error. Morris attempted to go from first to third on the play, but was tagged out. Trent Hough walked and Rodriguez moved to second base. Rodriguez advanced to third base on a passed ball. However, the next Bear batter grounded out to end the inning. The Bears went down in order in the bottom of the seventh, leaving Trinity with the 4-3 win.

Zack Morris led the Bears at the plate with a home run, a double, a run scored, and all three Bear RBI, while going 2/3. Trent Hough took three walks, scored two runs, and swiped a base. Waterman started and took the loss for the bears (7 IP, 4 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, 9 K)

Trinity jumped on top of game-two in the first inning on a long-ball, and added another run in the second. Trinity pushed its lead to 5-0 in the top of the fourth inning.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Bears picked up their only run. Zack Morris led off with a walk, and then stole second base. Trent Hough singled to plate Morris. But two batters later, the inning ended on a double play.

Trinity blew the game open with five runs in the top of the sixth inning, and went on to win 10-1.

Trent Hough was 1/3 for the Bears in game-two, with an RBI. Andrew Campbell went 2/3 with a sacrifice. Zack Morris walked, stole a base, and scored a run. Jake Padula started on the hill and took the loss.

The Bears are now 5-5 in the Shasta Cascade League and 7-20 overall. They host Fall River (8-2, 14-8) on Tuesday, April 28, at 2:00 pm.
