Weed v Mt. Shasta (1) front

biondi-300.jpgWEED – The Mt. Shasta Bears soccer team remains undefeated in the Shasta Cascade League after downing the Weed Cougars, 2-0, on Thursday.

Sawyer Ducharme opened the scoring for the Bears at the 23-minute mark. With about five minutes to go in the first half, Weed had a golden opportunity to score. The ball got behind the Bear goalkeeper, but defender Alastair Curley came up with the save to preserve Mt. Shasta’s 1-0 lead going into halftime.

Eleven minutes into the second half, Andrew Campbell scored to make it 2-0 on a shot that took an unpredictable bounce and went over the Weed keeper. Chance Jackson picked up the assist on the goal.

Mt. Shasta is now 7-0 in the SCL and hosts Fall River on Tuesday, October 13. Weed drops to 1-5-1 and will travel to Etna on Tuesday.
