After being smoked in their prior two matches with the Toros, the Atleticos gave the Toros all they could handle last Sunday at Lower Greenhorn Park. It took a header from Omar Reyes, off a Carlos Ontiveros free kick, in the final minute of play to give the Toros a 3-2 win.

The Yreka Toros jumped to a 3-0 halftime lead over visiting Chelsea on Sunday morning at Lower Greenhorn Park, and went on to win 4-2.

Carlos Ontiveros struck first for the Toros at the 16-minute mark, when he knocked home a ball that popped lose from the Chelsea keeper. Two minutes later, Martin Garcia took a feed from Erik Anaya and blasted a shot between two defenders, making the score 2-0. (more…)

Toros v Espana (15) front

Celestial PromYREKA – The Yreka Toros adult soccer team made it look easy in the first half of their match with España from Medford, leading 3-1 at the intermission on goals by Daniel Castro, Carlos Ontiveros, and Martin Garcia.

The second half was a different story, as España toasted the Toros’ defense for three goals in 13 minutes to take a 4-3 lead. (more…)

Toros v Atleticos (2) front

Celestial PromYREKA – In the battle for Yreka adult soccer supremacy, the Yreka Toros dominated Atletico Yreka, 9-1, on Sunday at Lower Greenhorn Park. The Toros scored early and often, building a 4-1 halftime lead.

Former Yreka High standout Carlos Ontiveros scored six minutes into the match, giving the Toros a 1-0 lead. Blass Leyva made it 2-0 four minutes later. Ontiveros picked up his second tally at the 14-minute mark, upping the Toros’ lead to 3-0. Martin Garcia scored the first of his five goals at 18 minutes, 4-0.

Tito Castro broke the shutout, hammering home a penalty kick for the Atleticos, with about three minutes left in the half, 4-1. (more…)
