Hello Parents, Baseball, Softball, and Babe Ruth players,

It’s time for registration for South Siskiyou Little League, Softball and Babe Ruth’s 2013 season!

We are holding 3 registration dates: (these are the only registration dates for the 2013 season)

    ~January 10, 2013 from 5-7pm at Weed Subway

    ~January 15, 2013 from 3-5:30pm at Sisson Gym

    ~January 16, 2013 from 5-7pm at Sisson Gym

We have been able to keep the cost for registration the same for 2013, however, the Park and Recreation District fees for 2013 have increased due to the city water prices. In the past, SSLL has been able to absorb this cost, but this year we won’t be able to do it alone.  We are assessing a $5.00 per player fee to all divisions to help cover the field and water fees.  This is for all divisions of play and is not included in the family cap. Siskiyou Babe Ruth sent its 15-year-old all star team to the all star tournament in North Bend, Oregon, last Thursday through Saturday. It was a good team, but there were other teams that were hungry for wins as well.

Game one, against Klamath Falls, was exciting to say the least. The game started at 7:00 pm Thursday night, didn’t finish until Friday morning, and was a tight one.

Siskiyou came out ready to swing the bats early, scoring two runs in the first inning, on 2-out double by Trevor Stacher.

Siskiyou maintained the 2-0 lead until the bottom of the third inning, when Klamath Falls put up four runs. With two outs in the inning, lightening began above the ballpark, and the game was postponed to the following morning at 8:00 am.

When action resumed, Dalton Dutra was back to the mound trying to work out of a 2-out jam. He got what he needed when a 4-3 putout ended the inning. (more…)

Going into Sunday’s game against Vancouver, WA, the Siskiyou Jaxx thought a win would put them into a semi-final game on Monday. Well, the Jaxx got the win, 8-3, but due to a 3-way tie in their pool at 3-1, the Jaxx wound up eliminated. Instead, a team they beat on the first day of the tournament, the Wilder Baseball Club, advanced by virtue of allowing fewer runs in its four games.

Wade Berryhill notched the complete game win over Vancouver, fanning 8, and allowing 3 hits and a pair of walks. Ryan Todd, Dustin Jochim, and Mason Mekeel each came up with 2-RBI singles in the game. According to Jaxx coach John Cox, “(The) Jaxx bunting game was on.” And, Dylan Morris, “played superb defense filling in at third base.”

Siskiyou Babe Ruth 13-year-old All Stars took third place at the district tournament in Roseburg, avenging a loss in pool play by defeating Umpqua, 11-3 on Sunday. Siskiyou had lost to Umpqua the previous day, 9-5. (more…)

Around 11:30 am on Friday morning, Dylan Morris of the Siskiyou Jaxx posted a message to the Jaxx’ facebook page, “For those who didn’t believe…the Jaxx are 2-0 in Washington, baby!!!”

The Jaxx, playing without 10 of their players, including their two top catchers, have managed to win the first two games of the Senior Babe Ruth Northwest Region Championships in Kent, Washington.

“It’s been a gutsy performance all around. Great defense and pitching, and today our bats came around,” said Jaxx head coach John Cox. “We’re one win away from reaching the region semi-finals.”

The Jaxx started the tournament with a rather bizarre win on Thursday. They were no-hit, but managed to take down the Wilder Baseball Club from Port Angeles, WA, 2-1. Wilder was last year’s regional runner up.

Going into the second inning, the Jaxx trailed 1-0, but took advantage of five walks and a couple of sacrifice bunts to tie the game, according to Cox. Cade Parker brought Dylan Morris home on sacrifice fly for what would prove to be the winning run.

Aiden Hagarty recorded the complete game win. Cox pointed out great defensive play by Jake Mekeel as a key part of the victory. (more…)
