FORT JONES – It wasn’t quite civil war, but it was close, with friends and family colliding in a hard fought battle for Scott Valley supremacy. In round one earlier in the season, it was Ray’s Market prevailing over Scott Valley Bank. In round two, SVB dominated, winning 10-2.

Ray’s went down 1-2-3 in the top of the first, twice via the strikeout. In the bottom half, SVB’s Max Detrick took a walk to start a 2-out rally. Charles Hawkins followed with a single and stole second. Preston Munson drove in both runners with a base hit, giving SVB a 2-0 lead. Munson advanced all the way to third base on a failed pickoff attempt, and scored on a single by Luke Hildebrand, making it 3-0 after one inning.

Neither team scored in the second inning, but SVB got the offense cranked up again in the bottom of the third inning. Hawkins led off with a double, and scored on a hit by Munson. Hildebrand reached on a fielder’s choice, which resulted in no out being recorded. Munson moved to second on the FC. Tristen Burns-Edel reached on an error, and Munson scored. Hildebrand advanced to third base. Marc Federico drove in Hildebrand with a ground out to second base. At the end of three innings, it was SVB 6 – Ray’s 0. (more…)
