MOUNT SHASTA – The Siskiyou Colt baseball team fell to the Redding Colts, 8-3, in the first round of the league’s single elimination post season tournament on Saturday.

The Siskiyou squad took an early 1-0 lead over Redding in the bottom of the first inning. Trent Hough led off with a walk and stole second base. A two-out single by Ben Sampson plated Hough.

Redding converted an error, a single and a triple into two runs in the top of the second inning, to take the lead 2-1. In the top of the third inning, Redding took command of the contest, putting up four runs to extend its advantage to 6-1. A Redding run in the fourth made it 7-1.

Siskiyou got one run back in the bottom half of the fourth. Sampson led off with a walk, went to second on a steal, and moved to third base on a wild pitch. Sampson scored on an RBI ground out by Brian Accord, to make the score 7-2. (more…)
