As the Community’s College, College of the Siskiyous wants you to know that you are a priority and we have set aside Mondays and Tuesdays all summer long as “COS Student Services Days.” Open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, from June 6 through July 26, students may see an adviser or counselor, attend a SOAR session, receive Financial Aid assistance, and register for classes.

If you are a student who is pursuing any COS certificate, AA degree, or transfer requirements, and are new to COS, you will want to participate in the Siskiyous Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR) activity. This is a required activity held on the main Weed campus and is specifically geared towards all incoming College of the Siskiyous students. During SOAR sessions, students will receive orientation, advising, a class schedule and a campus tour. New student placement tests must be scheduled and completed prior to scheduling your SOAR session due to limited testing times. Please call the Counseling and Support Services Office at (530) 938-5353 with any questions or to sign up for SOAR. Each session has limited availability. (more…)

"Roscoe Beach" by Nancy Ballard

Each year College of the Siskiyous Photography instructor James Gilmore and his intermediate photography students transition into the world of professional artists through co-curating and showing work in a collaborative student show. Each year the class goes beyond the creation of art and asks students to think about the organization that goes into creating a successful photographic show.

This years’ show, Focal Aberrations, draws its title from both the idea of optical aberrations (an imperfection in an image formed by an optical system) and aberration (the act of deviating from the ordinary, usual or normal type). The student collaboration hopes the title will reflect their “think outside of the box” mentality that shaped much of the art in the class. (more…)
