Etna varsity boys coach Mike Pendley’s pick for the Scott Valley Fire Protection District Basketball Defender of the Week is Colby Rimmer. Rimmer joined the Etna High School 30-point Club last week with 32 points against Fall River. He also set the school record for the most 3-point field goals in a game with eight, surpassing Nick Branson’s old record of six.

Of course, the 21 points DelaRosa put up against Weed last week probably didn’t hurt his chances…or, the 15 points against Burney.

Etna varsity boys coach Mike Pendley’s pick for the Scott Valley Fire Protection District Basketball Defender of the Week is Colby Rimmer. Pendley cited Rimmer’s improved defense and decision making as the reason for his choice. The 24 points, including five 3-balls, Rimmer put up against Mt. Shasta last week might just have been a factor, as well.

Etna Lady Lions coach Les Helsley’s pick for the Happy Toes Etna Lady Lion Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 1-7 is Jessie Eiler. Eiler averaged 13.5 points per game in the Etna Tip-Off Challenge tournament.

In addition to Eiler’s offensive production she, “continued her consistent defensive effort from the point guard position,” said Helsley.

Murphy was an all-tourney selection at last week’s Etna Tip Off Challenge, averaging 20 points per game, including a 27-point performance against Fall River.
