The Granada Wildcats defeated the Weed Cubbies, 25-19, to win the Yreka Elks Boys Basketball Tournament “A” Division over the weekend. It was a hard fought contest with both teams spending time in the lead.
Granada Coach Daryl Lara pointed out the contribution his 8th graders made to the teams success and their dedication to the team: Zane Allen, Ty Currie, Cody Hawkins, Matt “Mad Dog” Ward, and Brandon Whitehouse.
“They’re a great group of kids (the entire team). For the first time in 10 years of coaching, I didn’t have any worries about grades,” said Lara. “I also have to thank the Granada Sports Foundation. Without the foundation, there would be no Granada sports.”
The Wildcats are 16-0 on the season. (more…)

The Sisson cheerleaders took first place in the cheer competition. Matthew Morgan was the Hot Shot champion, and Cody Hoff took the 3-point shooting championship.
In the championship game between the Rams and Panthers, it was the Panthers that looked strong early in

The Rams responded when David Sellons made it 7-3 on a put back. Another bucket and a free throw by Sellons made it a one point game, 7-6. The Panthers went back up by four points, 11-7, but Michael Elfgen scored four points late in the first quarter to narrow the Panthers lead to 13-11. (more…)
