The Reds captured the Yreka Little League Minors playoff title on Friday night with a 9-6 win over the top-seeded and regular season champion Devil Rays.

The Reds jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The D-Rays countered with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the frame, making the score 3-2.

The Reds duplicated their first inning offensive output, with three runs in the second, upping their advantage to 6-2.

Neither team scored again until the bottom of the fifth, when the D-Rays cut the deficit to 6-4.

Another three-run inning by the Reds, this time in the top of the sixth, proved to be the difference in the game. (more…)

Hello Parents, Baseball, Softball, and Babe Ruth players,

It’s time for registration for South Siskiyou Little League, Softball and Babe Ruth’s 2013 season!

We are holding 3 registration dates: (these are the only registration dates for the 2013 season)

    ~January 10, 2013 from 5-7pm at Weed Subway

    ~January 15, 2013 from 3-5:30pm at Sisson Gym

    ~January 16, 2013 from 5-7pm at Sisson Gym

We have been able to keep the cost for registration the same for 2013, however, the Park and Recreation District fees for 2013 have increased due to the city water prices. In the past, SSLL has been able to absorb this cost, but this year we won’t be able to do it alone.  We are assessing a $5.00 per player fee to all divisions to help cover the field and water fees.  This is for all divisions of play and is not included in the family cap. It was a good run for the South Siskiyou 11-year-old All Stars in Redding, but it came to an end on Wednesday night at Caldwell Park. South Siskiyou fell, 7-4, to Red Bluff in the loser’s bracket semi-final of the District-1 Little League playoffs. South Siskiyou had defeated Red Bluff last week, 9-5, in the winner’s bracket.

South Siskiyou scored a run in the top of the first inning, but Red Bluff came back with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the frame on a 2-run blast by Mario Martinez. Red Bluff added a run in the third inning and three more in the fourth, to go up 7-1.

However, the South Siskiyou squad refused to surrender and pasted three runs on the board in the top of the fifth inning, with Jett Snure getting the big hit–a 2-RBI double down the first base line. (more…)
