A fantastic run for the South Siskiyou Little League All Stars came to end in Shasta Dam City on Monday night as they fell to the champions from East Redding, 8-6, in the second championship game. South Siskiyou battled through the losers bracket to finish second in the tournament.

East Redding put up five runs in the top of the first inning to take early control of the game. South Siskiyou went into the sixth inning trailing by four runs, 8-4, and was able to close the gap to two at 8-6, but could not complete the comeback.

According to Coach Kale Riccomini, “Kaimana Ferguson pitched 4 2/3 strong innings, and Hunter Stock and Logan Scholberg made three outstanding plays in the outfield to help keep the game close.”

Courtlen Cates went 2/3 at the plate, and scored twice. Kayden Crisci was also 2/3, and scored a run. Kole Riccomini pitched 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.

South Siskiyou had forced a second championship game by defeating East Redding, 12-5, on Sunday night.

Kaden Riccomini was the winning pitcher in that game and went 3/4 at the plate, scoring twice. Nathan Pappas also scored twice, going 2/3. Gavin Paisley was 3/5 with two runs, and Courtlen Cates went 2/3.

Earlier in the championship round, South Siskiyou downed Corning 20-6. Cates was the winning pitcher, and was 3/5 with three runs. Paisley went 4/5 with three runs. Kayden Crisci was 3/4 with four runs. Kaden Riccomini went 2/4 and crossed the plate three times. Kole Riccomini went 2/4.

South Siskiyou beat Anderson 7-0 in the first game of the championship round, 7-0. Kaden Riccomini was the winning pitcher. Cates went 2/3 and scored twice.

“The kids played great,” said Coach Kale Riccomini via text on Monday night.

South Siskiyou defeated East Redding 12-5 in first championship game, on Sunday night, but battling through the losers bracket meant they had to beat East Redding twice,

The South Siskiyou 9/10 Little League All stars pounded Corning on Saturday night, 20-6, to advance to the District-1 championship game on Sunday, July 10 at 6:00 pm at Shasta Lake City. South Siskiyou will take on undefeated East Redding, needing to beat them twice to claim the crown. East Redding defeated Corning, 5-4, in the winners bracket to reach the championship game.

YREKA – The South Siskiyou 9/10 Little League All Stars advanced to the District-1 championship round on Friday night with a 16-1 win over Yreka.

South Siskiyou jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, and then added six more runs in the second inning.

Yreka scored its only run in the top of the fourth inning.

Kaden Riccomini recorded the win for South Siskiyou. Courtlen Cates and Gavin Paisley each went 3/3, and Kayden Crisci was 2/2.

Caleb Cox had Yreka’s only hit, and Tim Soli scored the run.

South Siskiyou will play next in Shasta Lake City on Thursday, July 7 at 6:00 pm.

Yreka is eliminated from the tourney.

REDDING – The Yreka Little League 12-year-old All Stars defeated South Siskiyou, 12-0, on Thursday night to advance in the District-1 tournament losers bracket.

Yreka took complete control of the game in the bottom of the second inning, putting up nine runs. Yreka added two runs in the third inning, and another in the fourth.

Jacob Weiser notched the win for Yreka, fanning five, walking three, and allowing one hit. Wesier also scored two runs, drove in a pair of runs, walked twice, and went 1/1 with a double. Jan Henson was 2/3 with a run and three RBI. Devin Wells knocked in a pair of runs, scored a run, and went 1/2. Tyler Hedin went 1/1 with a run and a double. Tyler Wagy was 1/1 with a double, an RBI, and a walk. Jacob Gross scored twice and went 1/2 with a walk. Dawson Fraley was 1/2 with a run and an RBI. Caleb Gardner went 1/2 and scored a run. Brandon Swenson hit a double, drove in a run, and scored, going 1/3. Anthony Esparza was 1/2. Jeremy Persing reached twice and scored twice.

South Siskiyou’s only hit came off the bat of Justin Dutra.

Yreka will play at Caldwell Park in Redding on Wednesday, July 6 against Corning at 6:00 pm.

YREKA – The Yreka 9/10 Little League All Stars had a tough time against a hard hitting East Redding squad on Wednesday night at Ringe Park.

East Redding put a pair of runs on the board in the bottom of the first inning, seven in the second, and two more runs in the third inning, for an 11-0 win.

Yreka had runners in scoring position in the first, second and fourth innings, but couldn’t bring them home. Tim Soli had Yreka’s only hit.

Y-Town will have a chance to get back on track this Friday at 6:00 pm at Ringe Park against either West Redding or South Siskiyou.

YREKA – The South Siskiyou 9/10 All Stars team dominated Foothill, 10-1, on Tuesday night in the 3rd round of the District-1 Little League tourney.

South Siskiyou put up single runs in the first and second innings. Foothill scored its only run in the top of the third inning, making the score 2-1.

South Siskiyou put the game away with a five run explosion in the bottom of the fourth inning, and then added some insurance with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Kaden Riccomini was the starting and winning pitcher. He fanned five, and went 2/3 at the plate, scoring a run. Abraham Barr was 2/3, smacked a double, and scored twice. Courtlen Cates went 2/4 with a double, and was lights out as a relief pitcher. Gage Kinkade scored a pair of runs.

South Siskiyou plays West Redding on Thursday at 6:00 pm at Yreka’s Ringe Park.

YREKA – After defeating Shasta Dam in the first round of the District-1 9/10 Little League All Star tourney on Saturday, South Siskiyou found the going a bit tougher against a hard hitting East Redding squad on Sunday at Ringe Field.

East Redding jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning via a 2-run big fly.

South Siskiyou put up a run in the bottom half of the frame, making it 2-1.

East Reading added a pair of runs in the second inning, and another long ball in the top of the third inning, upping its lead to 5-1.

South Siskiyou stayed in the game a bit longer with a tally in the bottom of the third, making the score 5-2.

However, two big offensive innings by East Redding sealed the win, as they added five runs in the fifth inning and six in the sixth, to make the final score 16-2.

Courtlen Cates led South Siskiyou at the plate, going 2/3 with an RBI. Kaden Riccomini was 1/2 with a run scored. Kayden Crisci went 1/2, and Kaimana Ferguson had an RBI.
