The holiday season is the perfect time to announce the 2012 Siskiyou Golden Fair theme, and the lucky winner of the theme contest! The 10^th DAA Board of Directors selected the winning theme “Fun in the Mountain Sun” from amongst 65 entries and the winner is 10-year-old Colson Rice of Montague.

Colson received the $100.00 prize and a season pass to the 2012 fair for winning this year’s contest. Colson, an exhibitor at the Siskiyou Golden Fair, encourages everyone to come on out this summer for some fun in the mountain sun. The Siskiyou Golden Fair will be celebrating 153 years of Siskiyou County traditions, culture and heritage August 8-12 in Yreka. (more…)

The Siskiyou Golden Fairgrounds is extending an invitation to residents and organizations in Siskiyou County to enter our annual Theme Contest!

The theme needs to be “catchy” and easily usable in fair advertising and promotion. Any Siskiyou County resident or organization may submit one entry. Theme entries must be six words or less and the name of the fair is not part of the theme. Prior winners are ineligible to participate the following year.

The deadline for the 2012 theme contest is Friday, December 16, 2011. The winning theme will be used in its entirety or as a building block for the 2012 Siskiyou Golden Fair theme.

The author of the chosen theme will receive a cash prize of $100 plus a season pass to the 2012 fair. Entries may be mailed or hand delivered to the Siskiyou Golden Fair Theme Contest, 1712 Fairlane Rd., Yreka, CA. 96097. Theme entries are also accepted by email at info@sisqfair.com. Junior Fair Board member, Dustin Jochim, decorates the “murder room” for the 2011 Frightening at the Fairgrounds.

The Siskiyou Golden Fair Junior Fair Board along with the Etna FFA are proud to present the “Frightening at the Fairgrounds” Haunted House on Sunday, October 30 and Monday, October 31, 2011 at the fairgrounds in Yreka. Be prepared to face your worst fears from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm each night.

The Haunted House, in its third year, will feature rooms based around “phobias and nightmares,” and promises to scare even the bravest soul.

“We’ve teamed up with the Etna FFA this year to bring a bigger and better Haunted House to the community,” said Junior Fair Board adviser Janet Eastlick. “The kids have been working on this project since the end of September, and I think everyone will be very impressed by the outcome!” (more…)

The Siskiyou Golden Fairgrounds is looking for businesses and organizations to partner with the fairgrounds for the second annual Halloween Festival, Monday, October 31, 2011. Our goal is to give Siskiyou County Families a safe and fun place to spend Halloween and we need community support to make it happen.

Businesses or organizations are encouraged to rent a 10’X10’ booth space for $30 and hand out candy or other treats. The booth fee will cover the cost of game prizes, decorations and insurance for the event. The Friends of the Fair will be offering games including a bean bag toss, a costume contest, crafts, along with the newly added broomstick obstacle course. We are hoping to add a hay ride and a hay bale maze to this year’s event if time and weather allow. The annual “Frightening at the Fairgrounds” haunted house and the Halloween Festival for the younger children make the fairgrounds the place to be on Halloween. Over 900 folks go through the haunted house and another 400 kids are expected to visit the festival and your support would be greatly appreciated. (more…)

The Siskiyou Golden Fairgrounds is now accepting applications for winter storage for RVs, boats and other recreational vehicles for the 2011-2012 winter.

“With two locked indoor buildings and the open sided livestock barns, we have room for your equipment” stated CEO, Cliff Munson, “Reserve your spot today.”

The fairgrounds has been using the buildings for storage for years and it is a win-win for the community and the facility. (more…)

The Siskiyou Golden Fair is accepting proposals for the 2012 racing season from anyone interested in promoting the Siskiyou Speedway.

“The Speedway has been an attraction in Siskiyou County for decades and we are just making sure that anyone that may be interested has an opportunity to submit a proposal” said CEO Cliff Munson, “We had a good year with the Siskiyou County Motorsports Association but we need to make sure anyone interested is informed.” (more…)
