Mt. Shasta Invitational results

MOUNT SHASTA – The Mt. Shasta Invitational was held last Friday at Shastice Park, with about 500 junior high and high school runners.

Cougars pull off second big upset, beat Bears 3-2

WEED – Earlier this season the Weed Cougars soccer squad beat powerhouse Tulelake 3-2. On Tuesday, the Cougars took down the two-time defending Shasta Cascade League champion Mt. Shasta Bears, 3-2.

YREKA – The Yreka Elks Invitational cross country meet was held last Saturday at Lower Greenhorn Park.

Etna fourth at Miner Mountain Blast

YREKA – The Etna Lady Lions were the top local finisher at the Miner Mountain Blast volleyball tournament, with fourth place. The Yreka Lady Miners were sixth. The Mt. Shasta Lady Bears finished eighth, and the Weed Lady Cougars were ninth.

Bears win Black Butte Bowl

The Mt. Shasta Bears varsity football team beat the Weed Cougars 33-12, to keep possession of the Black Butte Bowl trophy, last Friday. The JV Bears also prevailed 20-6.

Local football teams tune up for season openers

MOUNT SHASTA – Varsity and JV football squads from Yreka, Mt. Shasta, Weed, and Etna high school participated in a round robin style scrimmage on Friday afternoon.
