The Siskiyou Knights Unlimited Pop Warner Youth Football Team finished the season strong with a convincing win over the Raiders from Lost River 51–6. The Unlimited Knights outscored their opponents in the last three games 125–18. Coach Glenn Gonzales credits this to, “the development of the players both mentally and physically the second half of the season.”

The Pee Wee Knights started their game strong Saturday, but the Hawks proved to be too much for a second week in a row, beating the Knight’s 37 19. Coach Darren Lonnon gives a great deal of praise to this team, “they are a very young team and grew tremendously as the season progressed.”

Both the Unlimited team and the Pee Wees finished their seasons with records of 4–4.

President Craig Kay stated, “We are very happy with the growth of the kids and the program, this is our second year in the Klamath County Pop Warner program and have found our home in this new league. Our program is designed to focus on building character in these boys as well as promoting scholastics with good grades and we succeeded in both.”

The Knights are having a year-end Luau fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm at the Mt Shasta City Park. The proceeds will go towards buying much needed equipment, as well as re-certification of helmets. Besides the good food, there will be entertainment, dessert auction, issuing of trophies, and the collection of equipment. Everyone is invited!!

The Siskiyou Knights Unlimited team traveled to Henley, Oregon to face the Stingers in a playoff game to settle 3rd and 4th place. The Knights fell short as the Stingers won 26–6. The Knights saw very little offense due to successful on-side kicking by the Stingers.

The Unlimited team finished the season in fourth place, at 4-4. This is quite an accomplishment for a first year team in a new league. The Knights seem to have found a home in the Klamath Falls Pop Warner Football League and look forward to many more seasons with great anticipation for great success.

The Knights will be holding an awards ceremony for coaches and players November 9, at 6:00 PM in the Sisson Elementary School cafeteria. Players are asked to return all equipment at this time. Those who ordered pictures will receive them on this evening.

The Siskiyou Knights will be closing out their regular season this weekend at Weed High School. The Pee Wee’s will be playing the Cougars at noon and the Unlimited team will play Lost River at 2:00 pm. Both Knights teams are playing to win a spot in the Klamath Pop Warner league playoffs.

Last weekend the Knights Unlimited team lost to the undefeated Bucs 38 – 12, and the Pee Wee’s lost to the Ducks, 19 – 6, both in the Merrill Spud Bowl. It was a tough weekend for the Knights and the boys will have to work hard this week in order to make the playoffs.

Come out and cheer on the Knights as they will once again play their hearts out to extend the season one more week!

The Knights Pee Wee team got back on the winning track with a decisive 27-7 victory over the Vikings from Klamath Falls. There was plenty of offense and defense, the Knights worked especially hard this last week in practice and it really showed.

The Knights go to Merrill this Saturday to play a pair of games in the Merrill Spud Bowl.

Friday night, October 15 from 5:30 to 7:30, the Knights are hosting a Family Night fundraiser at Penny’s Diner in Dunsmuir. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled pork and all of the sides. The proceeds go to help pay for field use fees and much needed equipment. Come support your Siskiyou Knights and enjoy some good food!

The Siskiyou Knights Pop Warner Unlimited team continued their winning streak on the road last Saturday beating the Bonanza Antlers, as they improved to 3-1. In a game that featured big plays that led to a big lead, the Knights dominated, going up 28-0 at half.

With a second half interception that added another eight points, the Knights won impressively 36-0.

Head coach Phil Medina said, “The team played up to their ability today, they are a force to be reckoned with. They do their jobs out there and it shows on the scoreboard. I am very proud to coach a team with this much ability and talent and they just keep getting better every week.”

The Siskiyou Knights Pee Wee team was not as fortunate as they dropped the road game, 36-6, to the team from Chiloquin. It was a tough loss but the boys kept their heads up and played hard.

This Saturday the Knights will be home at Weed High School, with the Unlimited team playing last year’s champions, the Stingers at 12:00 pm. The Pee Wee team will play at 2:00 pm against the Vikings. If you want to see some exciting football, come out and cheer on your kids from South Siskiyou County!

Last Saturday was an exciting day for Siskiyou Pop Warner, as both the Unlimited and PeeWee teams won on their home field at Weed High School.

The Unlimited team once again stepped up in the fourth quarter to earn their second victory. The first half featured a steady 6-minute opening drive for 6 points. There were also two kickoff returns for touchdowns. The Knights went into the half ahead by two, the difference being a two-point kick.

Play slowed in the third quarter, as it was a battle for yards with neither team scoring. In the fourth quarter, with two minutes on the clock and the Henley Hornets driving, the Knights defense coached by Mike Deflaco and Art Catrow, made the adjustments to the passing defense that resulted in two late fourth quarter interception touchdowns, which sealed the victory 32-18.

Head coach Phil Medina said, “This was a tough challenge for the team, but they kept their heads and found a way to win big.”

The PeeWee’s won their first game of the season against the Hawks from Klamath Falls. This was an exciting game as well, going back and forth, until late Siskiyou scores finished the game with the Knights up 25-12.

Head Coach Darren Lonnon was very happy with the win and said, “We came together as a team, and that’s how we won the game. I’m very proud of all my boys for all their hard work. They earned this win.”

The Knights play next Saturday away at Bonanza High School with the PeeWees playing Chiloquin at 4:00 pm, and the Unlimited team playing Bonanza at 6:00 pm. The Knights next home games are Saturday, October 9 at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm.
