nsa-in-story.jpgFORT JONES – The Trinity Wolves made it slightly more interesting this time around, but the Yreka Miners still won their third game in less than a week over the Wolves, at the Marble Mountain Tournament on Thursday. Yreka beat Trinity last week 8-2 at the Nor Cal preseason tournament in Redding, and 14-4 on Tuesday in Yreka.

Yreka struck first on a a one-out blast over the left-center field fence by Joe Wilson, in the top of the second inning.

Yreka upped its advantage to 4-0 in the top of the fourth inning. Zach Salvestro led off with a single, and promptly stole second base. A single by Wade Berryhill plated Salvestro. Berryhill stole second, and went to third on a passed ball. J. Wilson wound up on second base after the Trinity center fielder dropped his shallow fly ball. Berryhill scored on the error. J. Wilson moved to third on Christian Charles’ sacrifice bunt. J. Wilson scored on a Josh Lee sac fly. (more…)

Yreka v Trinity (9) front

Celestial PromYREKA – The Yreka Miners picked up their second win in less than a week against the Trinity Wolves on Tuesday, at Hibbard Field. Trinity led 2-0 after the top of the first inning, but the Miners scored nine runs in their first two at bats to take control of the game 9-2. They would go on to win 14-4 in six innings.

Miner Taylor Barlow led off the bottom of the first inning with a walk, stole second base, and went to third on a ground out. With two outs, Wade Berryhill walked and stole second. Joshua Lee took a stroll to load the bases. Aaron Blazier reached on a fielder’s choice, when Trinity’s shortstop went to second on Blazier’s ground ball. The second baseman was several feet from the bag allowing Lee to arrive safely. Barlow scored on the fielder’s choice. Christian Charles cleared the bases with a double, giving the Miners a 4-2 advantage, after one inning. (more…)
