The 10th District Agricultural Association Board of Directors is happy to announce the 2018 Lifetime pass will be presented to Cheryl Scruggs of Yreka during opening ceremonies at the Siskiyou Golden Fair.

Cheryl’s love for fairs and fairgrounds began in 1960 when she started exhibiting at the Kings County Fair in Southern California where she finished her 4-H years by receiving the All Star rank. Beginning in 1990, with two daughters that were too young to show large animals, Cheryl stayed in the RV park at the Siskiyou Golden Fair with her family and they exhibited a couple of rabbits in the small animal barn. It began what has become a 28-year commitment as a parent, 4-H leader, Founding Member of the Friends of the Fair, seamstress extraordinaire designing and donating champion blankets, and most recently serving a stint as our Home Arts Supervisor, Cheryl has done it all.

Cheryl served as a Friends of the Fair board member from 2005 until she termed out in 2015. She has remained active, continuing to serve as the Halloween Festival Chairperson, on the Yard Sale Committee, in the Friends of the Fair Information Booth, and is always quick to volunteer her time for any additional activity that needs volunteers around the grounds.

“It is this dedication and support that makes Cheryl the perfect recipient of the Lifetime Pass Awards” said CEO Cliff Munson. “The ongoing commitment by volunteers that have given so much to continue this great tradition is really what makes our fair special.”

Organizations like the Siskiyou Golden Fair thrive because of community minded individuals that get involved for the good of all and Cheryl Scruggs’ lifetime of dedication is greatly appreciated.

“It takes thousands of hours of volunteer time and service to make a fair go,” Munson said. “Cheryl Scruggs has worked tirelessly to do all she can to insure our fair sustains and thrives.”

Join Cheryl and the community at the flagpole at 5:00 pm on opening night as we all celebrate the 2018 run of our county’s traditions.
