The District -1 rodeo team earned top team honors at the 2008 California High School Rodeo Association’s state finals held in Bishop, CA June 15-21. Several Siskiyou County residents contributed to the team’s success.
Daniel Ferreira of Fort Jones was the Reserve All-Around Cowboy. Ferreira was first in Tie Down Roping, third in Team Roping (Heeler), and seventh in Steer Wrestling.
Larry Ferreira (Fort Jones) was third in Team Roping (Header) and fourth in Steer Wresting. Dean Autry (Fort Jones) took third in Boy’s Cutting, and fifth in Saddle Bronc.
Laramie Collins of Weed finished sixth in Bull Riding, and eighth in Saddle Bronc.
The top four finisher’s in each event move on to the National High School Rodeo Finals in Farmington, NM, which takes place July 19-26. Fifth – tenth place finishers qualify for the 23rd annual Silver State International Rodeo in Fallon NV, June 30 – July 5.
