Myers named to All-State Team

myers1.jpgWEED – The College of the Siskiyous Lady Eagles (23-6) will host Solano this Saturday at 7:00 pm for the first round of the California Community College Women’s Basketball State Championships. COS is seeded sixth in the North Region, and is a Golden Valley Conference co-champion (8-2). Solano is the 11-seed and Bay Valley Conference champion (14-0, 21-11).

COS is led by Lady Eagles career scoring leader Karlee Myers who told siskiyouyouth.com that the Eagles really came together as a team this year and stepped up their play to win the GVC.

“We’re looking forward to a home game this Saturday. We’re ready to bounce back from our loss to Shasta,” said Myers.

As a 1st team All-State selection and the GVC’s MVP, Myers also led the team in awards, and it is clear that she recognizes the importance of her teammates and coach in her accomplishments.

“Being All-state is a big accomplishment. But, I couldn’t have done it without my teammates. They’re the ones that got the ball into me,” said Myers. “Also, I couldn’t have done it without Tom Powers (COS head coach). He really took me under his wing. I’ve improved a lot since I’ve been up here.”

In addition to Myers, Amanda Harris and Kristi Arness were named GVC All-conference, and Allison West garnered Honorable Mention recognition. Crissy Watts was included on the All-freshman Team.
