Last December, SiskiyouYouth.com did a story about Cricket Postma and her quest to make it to the American Quarter Horse Association Youth World Reining Championships in Oklahoma City this July and August. Cricket and her horse, I’m a Dillon Dun It, have qualified. Now, all she has to do is raise the $5,000 it will take to get her and Dillon to the show and back. Horse transportation alone is expected to be about $2000.
“It’s still setting in that I actually qualified. It seems like only yesterday I was telling people it was this up coming summer and I was hoping to go. Well it is just around the corner now! But I am extremely excited and dedicated to doing whatever it takes to be as prepared as Dillon and I can be. This year I’m not going with the Idea of winning or anything. It’s about being able to share the experience with Dillon. Of course I will still be competitve. It’s not about the win. It’s about the ride to get there. Dillon has taken me to new heights in my life. Not only in the horse world but other areas too. He has helped increase my self confidence, joy for the good things in life, love for animals, and people skills, believe it or not. I know this trip will be the experience of a lifetime!” said Cricket.
Cricket will be riding under the colors of Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness in honor of a friend who was instrumental in bringing Cricket and Dillon together. Any funds raised above what is needed for the competition will be donated to Think Pink. If Cricket and Dillon are unable to make the trip, the funds raised will be donated to NorCal Think Pink.
An account has been set up for Cricket at PremierWest Bank, under the name Cricket Henderson. Donations can also be sent to:
