Everyone who donates school supplies during the fair gets a chance to win a cookware set valued at $1,500, donated by longtime fair vendor Healthy Gourmet.

“This is so exciting,” said fair CEO Rebecca Desmond. “Our local schools are really feeling the budget pinch and this is one way the fair can help.”

On Saturday, August 9, the Office of Education will staff a booth in the new Pacific Power Technology Pavilion (south end of the Ag-Hort Building) where fair patrons can donate supplies or money toward supplies. A $10 donation gets you one entry in the drawing, $11-$50 gets you two entries, and anything over $51 gets you three entries.

A list of supplies will be posted on the Siskiyou Golden Fair website. You can purchase these items anywhere you wish and bring them to the fair on Saturday to donate. Be sure to bring your receipt to show the value of your donation. Or, just stop by the School Supply Drive booth and make a donation.

Donations can be made to a specific school in Siskiyou County, or to a general fund that will be divided up among the schools in the county.

“We are excited to be teaming with the Siskiyou Golden Fair,” said County Superintendent of Schools Kermith Walters. “We have a lot of people ask us, what can do to help our schools? Here is a great way for them to help out.”
