FORT JONES – It was a small but enthusiastic crowd who turned up at Scott Valley Junior High School on Saturday morning for a spirited game of Dodgeball to help raise funds for the Scott Valley JH 8th Grade Class.
With a total of eight teams competing for the title of champion, the games were intense. In the end the Emergency Services team won the bragging rights, at least for now. The defending champions, (The Champs), with players from the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office and Probation Department, went into the final battle against the Emergency Services team and played with gusto until the final ball was thrown.
After seven grueling rounds of round-robin play, the Black Tornados were undefeated going into the final bracket play. The team, consisting of Etna High School graduates on winter break from college, suffered their first loss courtesy of a slightly younger group of Yreka High School students who dubbed themselves π (Pi).
After regular play, the π team was challenged by the Pee Wee team (the very young children of The Champs team) and the crowd was entertained by a “gentle” game of dodgeball with the Pee Wee’s emerging victorious!
Other teams who joined the fun were the Scott Valley Junior High boys team (The Ducks), the SVJH and Etna High School girls team (The Incredibles), and the Andy Dean family team (The Eliminators).
The organizers of the event would like to thank everyone who attended and competed. Special thanks go out to all the team members for their genuine courtesy and good sportsmanship in this always fun event.
