WEED – Take the Shasta Cascade League, add in a few more schools for the North Section CIF D-III track and field championships, and the team champions are the same as the SCL championships. The Etna Lady Lions and Mt. Shasta Bear boys took first place again. The D-III junior varsity team results also matched the SCL championships, with Weed winning the boys, and Trinity taking the girls championship.

The Lady Lions were led by Emily Loogman, who won the 400m (1:02.44), 800m (2:32.65), and 100m Hurdles (16.64). Loogman, the SCL champion in the 100m, chose to scratch in that race to concentrate on wining the 800m.

Jilinda Franklin won the 3200m (12:47.77) and was second in the 1600m (5:53.25). Etna went 1,2,3 in the High Jump, with Trina Appler winning it (4-09.00). Teri Szczepanek won the 300m Hurdles (51.49). Annaleisa Nadig was the Shot Put winner at 31-11.50.  Sarah Loogman easily won the Pole Vault (10-00.00), and was second in the High Jump (4-06.00).

Mt. Shasta finished second in the division, edging out Rio Vista by one point, 103-102. Lady Bear Kerstin Bree took the 1600m (5:40.08). Mt. Shasta also won the 4×400 Relay (4:34.46).

The Mt. Shasta Bear boys varsity was led by Austin Herrick who won the 200m (23.25) and the Long Jump (19-05.50). Herrick was also second in the 100m (11.76). Lars Warn took first in the 800m (2:08.00). Mitchell Nesheim ran the 3200m in 11:02.41 for first place. Mt. Shasta’s 4×400m Relay team also turned in a winning performance (3:36.97).

The Etna boys finished seventh, with Ryan Hicks winning the High Jump (6-0.00) and taking third in the Triple Jump (37-11.50).
