Posted by Ray Wolf under Academics , COS
WEED – Registration is open with space available for College of the Siskiyous exciting new Outdoor Adventure Leadership course (ERSC 3) at http://www.siskiyous.edu/registration.htm. Combining “in the field” outdoor adventure experiences, history, and even philosophy, the new two-unit course teaches necessary skills, awareness, and understanding to help acquire jobs as an outdoor leader in Siskiyou County and beyond.
Taught by Laurie Bagley, renowned educator and trainer who reached the summit of Mt. Everest in 2006, the course will cover guiding principles, local job opportunities, and encourages students to look into the future to identify outdoor job trends. This course meets COS requirements for the Environmental Resources Program two-year Sustainable Communities degree. Field activities include a mountaineering lab, a Nordic skiing lab, and a whitewater rafting trip.
“I am looking forward to presenting and discussing all areas of the outdoor adventure industry,” says Bagley. “I will be packing lots of hands-on fun and academic perspectives into the class. This is a relatively new and fast growing industry. This course has the opportunity to expose students to careers they may not have heard of, or thought possible for their futures. I welcome anyone to sign up and join us.”
