These are my personal favorite photos from the 2017-2018 sports year, fall season. They were taken by Violet Carter, Emily Longworth, Courtney Quirmbach and some random guy who posts stuff on SiskiyouYouth.
The criteria for choosing them was simple. As I looked through the photos, if I liked it, I picked it. Choices had nothing to do with schools, players or level of play.
At first glance, the cover photo may seem a strange choice. There’s no action, it’s not technically great and there aren’t any vibrant colors–nothing that would normally catch your eye.
The photo was taken after the Happy Camp Indians had just defeated the Butte Valley Bulldogs 50-36. It was the Indians’ first win in football over the Bulldogs in several years.
Yet, even in defeat, Butte Valley Coach Jason Allen gathered his team and the Indians for a moment of reflection and thanks. He has his arm on the back of Happy Camps’ Aaron Tuttle. I chose the photo because it reminds us that in the end, we are all one team here on earth.
Favorites from the winter and spring seasons will be posted over the next week or two.Share on Facebook
