Isaac Fernandez and Ashley Cox are the recipients of the 2018 Yreka High School SiskiyouYouth.com Scholar Athlete of the Year awards. Fernandez and Cox were chosen for the scholarships by the faculty of Yreka High School based on a combination of academic and athletic performance.

Fernandez is the Northern Athletic League 800m and 1600m champion, as well as the NSCIF D-II 1600m champion. He is one of the favorites to win the North Section 1600m title this Friday. Fernandez was the Northern Athletic League Cross Country champion, and finished 2nd in the North Section.

His GPA is 4.08. Fernandez will attend Southern Oregon University next fall, majoring in Communications and running track and cross country.

Cox was a member of the Miners volleyball, basketball and softball teams. She was the Northern Athletic League MVP in volleyball, and an all-league selection in softball.

Her GPA is 3.70, and she will be attending College of the Siskiyous in the fall as a Outdoor Recreation major. Cox plans to be a three-sport athlete at Siskiyous.
