y-ad-1.jpgFARMINGTON, NM - Strong first and second round performances in Steer Wrestling, along with a solid time in the second round of Team Roping, secured Larry Ferreira a respectable sixth place finish in the All Round Cowboy category at the National High School Rodeo Finals, last week. His point total was 640, just 20 points out of second place. Cameron Hopper-Craig from Battle Mountain, Nevada was the All Round Cowboy, with 1131.25 points.

Ferreira went into the Steer Wrestling finals in great position to win the event, finishing with the best time in the first go (3.501) and fourth in the second round (4.209). Unfortunately, a 20.072 performance in the finals dropped him to seventeenth place out of the 130 competitors.

Larry Ferreira combined with Daniel Ferreira for the second best time in the second go of team roping (6.394). The brothers did not record a time in the first round, and finished thirty-fifth out of 95 teams.

Daniel Ferreira finished eighteenth in Tie Down Roping out of 137 contestants. His first round time was 13.006, and his second go was 9.257.

The California team finished eighth (boys fifth, girls eleventh) out of 42 states, provinces and countries. Complete results can be found at the NHSRA home page.
