“We are very excited about our partnership with Pacific Power at the fair this year,” said fair CEO Rebecca Desmond. “Not only are they providing our fairgoers with great ideas on how to save energy in the home, they are ‘greening’ the fair by offsetting the power the fair uses with renewable energy through their Blue Sky program.”

Fairgoers will also have a chance to win an energy efficient front-end loading washing machine at the Pacific Power booth. The appliance is donated by Sears of Yreka. There will other great prizes to win and a lot of information on how to make your home more energy efficient.

The Siskiyou Golden Fair is already going green with other programs such as recycling beverage containers and cardboard. A new program this year includes going to shavings only in the livestock barns.

“Shasta Forest Products is helping us this year by providing first bedding to the junior exhibitors then hauling off all the used shavings after the fair to be used as biomass fuel,” said Desmond. “It is through great partnerships like these that the Siskiyou Golden Fair is becoming a greener fair.”
