West CoastPrior to the start of the Shasta Cascade League basketball season, SiskiyouYouth.com and The Intermountain News conducted an SCL coaches’ poll. Here’s how the poll compares to the actual SCL standings at the end of the season.

Boys Poll

In the boys poll. it was Weed that exceeded expectations, finishing in a tie for the title with favored Mt. Shasta. I had picked Mt. Shasta 1st, Trinity 2nd, Etna 3rd, and Weed 4th, same as the coaches–didn’t see Fall River being as strong, and didn’t expect Weed to be as strong.

In the girls poll both Fall River and Weed exceeded the coaches’ expectations, with Fall River tying Etna and Mt. Shasta for 1st, and Weed finishing 4th. I had picked Mt.
