The College of the Siskiyous Lady Eagles grabbed a share of the top ranking in the state of California, after recording wins over Yuba, Shasta, and Butte, last week. COS is currently tied with Cypress (40-1) for the top spot, with 150 points, and six first place votes a piece.

The Lady Eagles also guaranteed themselves at least a share of the Golden Valley Conference championship, with a sweep of Shasta, on Friday. COS (16-0) has a four game lead over Shasta (12-4), with four games remaining for both teams.

COS beat Shasta in 12 innings, 5-4, in game-one. Game two ended in five innings, with the Lady Eagles blanking Shasta 8-0.

Shasta scored first in game-one, in the bottom of the third inning to lead 1-0. COS bounced right back with a run in the fourth to tie the score, 1-1, and another run in the fifth inning to take the lead 2-1. Shasta evened the score at 2-2, with a run in the bottom of the sixth.

The score remained tied, until the top of the eleventh, when the Lady Eagles scored to take the lead back, 3-2. Shasta delayed the outcome by also scoring a run in the bottom half of the inning. COS registered the only multi-run inning of the game, when they put a pair of runs on the board in the top of the twelfth inning. Shasta managed a run in the bottom of the twelfth, to make it a one run win for the Lady Eagles, 5-4.

Katie Zauner led the COS offense, going 3-6, with a run, three RBI, and two doubles. Crislyn Chewning went 2-6, with a run, an RBI, and two doubles. Jackie Imhof got the marathon win (12IP, 4R, 2ER, 15H, BB, 11K).

Game-two was all Lady Eagles. COS put up five runs in the top of the third inning, and added three more in fourth to win, 8-0, in five innings.

Chewning scored two runs, and went 3-4 at the plate. Zauner went yard, scored a run, and drove in five, while going 2-3. Carlene Morgan also went 2-3, with a dinger. Ali Paz was 1-2, scored two runs, and took a walk. Becca Anderson pitched all five innings for COS, giving up two hits, and fanning two batters.

On Saturday, the Lady Eagles took care of Butte, 6-2 in game-one, and 6-1 in game-two. In game one, Cheyanna Ohlrich went 2-4, scored a pair of runs, and had a double. Morgan went 2-4 and scored two runs. Paz was 2-4 with a run scored. Catherine Schorn went 1-3, with two RBI, and a double. Nikki Kemper drove in three runs, had a double, and went 1-4. Schorn started and notched the win (7IP, 2ER, 0BB, 2K).

Imhof picked up her twenty-second win in game two (22-2), pitching all seven innings (R, 3H, BB, 10K). Paz and Ohlrich each went 2-4, with a run, and an RBI. Paz also had a double. Morgan was 2-4 with a run scored.

On Tuesday, COS downed Yuba, 20-0, and 11-1 (See Siskiyou Youth story posted 4/8/08 for details).

The Lady Eagles host Feather River for a double-header on Friday, April 18, and travel to Eureka on Saturday, April 19 to play a pair against Redwoods.
