Patterson CreekETNA – The Etna Lady Lions easily took care of business against the Happy Camp Lady Indians in both team’s season opener, on Tuesday night. Etna raced out to an 8-0 lead and controlled the game from start to finish.

Annaleisa Nadig started the scoring with a put back. Ilima Adams made it 4-0 with a steal-n-score. Back to back buckets by Paige Finley pushed the lead to 8-0. Happy Camp’s Daniella Sanchez broke the run with a bucket, 8-2. But, a pair of three balls by Tandy Thackeray started another scoring burst for the Lady Lions.

Amy Wyckoff hit a hoop for Happy Camp, but that was the last time the Indians would score until the last 15 seconds of the opening quarter. Thackeray hit another shot from beyond the arc, making it 17-4. A freebie by Abby Journey upped the lead to 18-4. Tilly McBroom nailed a jumper to make the score 20-4. A pair from the charity stripe by Renae Hall completed the 14-2 Etna run.

Carly Hammon added a bucket for the Lady Indians, and Happy Camp added two free throws at the end of the first quarter, leaving Etna with a 22-8 lead.
Etna increased its lead to 19 points by halftime, 37-18. The score was 51-29 at the end of the third quarter.

Etna’s Tandy Thackeray led all scorers with 20 points, including six 3-pointers. Paige Finley put up 16. Emily Loogman had 10, and Abby Journey scored 9 points.

Carly Hammon hit three 3-balls and led Happy Camp with 14 points. Sammi Jo Goodwin dropped in 11, and Amy Wyckoff contributed 9 points.

Etna is at the Yreka Invitational Tournament this Thursday–Saturday. The Lady Lions open with Weed at 10:00 am. Happy Camp goes to the Butte Valley Tournament this weekend.
