etna-v-lost-river-front.jpgETNA – The varsity Etna lady Lions easily repelled the Lost River Pirates volleyball team on Tuesday, winning the match 3-0 (25-15, 25-11, 27-25).

The Pirates picked up the first point of game-one, but that was the highlight of their visit. With the score 1-1, Annaleisa “ace-o-matic” Nadig took the serve and ripped three straight aces to put Etna up 4-1. By the time Lost River was able to side out, the Lady Lions had scored 11 unanswered points to lead 11-1, including seven aces by Nadig. Nadig would serve again to finish out the game, recording three of the last five Etna points via the ace.

Game two was another Etna rout, with little resistance svpt-small.jpgfrom Lost River. Midway through game-three, Etna Coach Kayla Nadig made use of her reserves, who closed out the match with a 27-25 win.

For Etna, Nadig had 11 aces and six kills. Claire Pynes notched 14 kills, four aces, and three blocks. Tandy Thackeray had 11 assists and Emily Loogman had seven helpers. Abby Travis was in on four blocks.

The Lady Lion JVs also won their match, 2-1. Etna had a strong effort in game-one, winning 25-18. Lost River rebounded in a hard-fought second game to win 25-23. The Lady Lion JVs came from behind in game three to win 15-13.

Etna, 4-3, travels to Oregon to take on Klamath Union on Thursday, September 10.
