The Etna Lady Lions went 5-1 at the Anderson Cub Classic to finish in third place, last Friday and Saturday. Etna won their pool by going 3-0 on day-one, with wins over Quincy, 5-3, Trinity, 10-7, and Orland 12-1.

Against Quincy, Lady Lion Chloe Papazian led the way, going 2/3, with a double, and an RBI. Kacey Munson had an RBI and a run, and went 1/2. Elli Pynes had a pair of steals and a run, going 1/3. Paige Finley started, went three innings and got the win on the mound (ER, 3H, 2K, BB). Ashley Page made a relief appearance, going three innings (2ER, 3H, 4K, BB, HB).

It was deuces wild for Papazian against Trinity, with two doubles, two runs, and two RBI, while going 3/4 at the plate. Ashley Parry was 2/2, with a run, two RBI, and two steals. Nicole Luiz went 2/4, with a run, two RBI, and a steal. And, Trinity learned something about not throwing strikes—Munson walks, Munson steals, and Munson scores (3BB, 3S, 2R) for the Lady Lions. Ashley Page pitched a complete seven inning game for the win (7ER, 6H, 5BB, 5K, 5HB).

If Orland never wants to see Etna’s Paige Finley again, it’s pretty understandable. Finley was perfect at the plate going 3/3, with two runs, four RBI, a double, a triple, and a steal. On the mound, Finley pitched four innings, yielding a single run, two hits, and a walk, while fanning eight. Also perfect with the bat were Parry and Munson. Parry was 3/3, with a run, an RBI, a double, and a steal. Munson went 2/2, with a run and an RBI.

The Lady Lions won the first two games on Saturday against Los Molinos, 12-1, and Burney, 11-4. Etna’s only loss was in a semi-final contest versus Fortuna, 10-6.

No one on the Etna squad had more than one hit against Los Molinos, but that was because Los Molinos hit more Lady Lions than they had base hits (4HB). Papazian went 1/1, with a double, two runs, two RBI, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. Brittney Potter was 1/1, with a run, three RBI, a walk, a steal, and was hit by a pitch. Shasta Hinkle went 1/1, and scored run. Finley notched another win in a four inning outing (ER, 2H, 2K, 2BB, 2HB).

Tracy Thackeray led the offensive attack against Burney, going 2/3, with a run and an RBI. Finley was 2/3, with a run. Pynes went 1/3, with a run, an RBI, and a steal. Finley pitched five innings for the win (4ER, 4H, 3BB, 2K, HB).

Against Fortuna, Papazian was 2/3, and scored twice. Thackeray took three free passes and scored two runs. Cecilli Kelley went 1/2, with an RBI. Page started, pitched three innings, and was tagged with the loss (9R, 8ER, 8H, 3BB, 2K). Finley pitched two innings in relief (R, H, 2BB, 2K).

The Lady Lions are 6-2 this season.
