valley-tire-red-300.jpgSHASTA LAKE CITY – The Etna Lady Lions girls’ varsity won the Burt Williams Classic track meet last Saturday at Central Valley High School.

Emily Loogman led the Lady Lions with wins in the 100 m Hurdles (17.04) and 800 m race (2:30.55). Sarah Loogman went 9’06.00 to win the Pole Vault. The mark equals the best in the North Section this season.

Annaleisa Nadig took first in the Shot Put (31’06.75). Jilinda Franklin was strong in the distance events, placing second in the 3200m and third in the 1600 m. Trina Appler picked up a third in the High Jump at 4’06.00, and freshman Marina Gutleben placed third in the 400 m (1:10.00). The Lady Lions also finished third in the 4×100m Relay and the 4×400 m Relay.

The top varsity boy performer was Ryan Hicks, who placed firth in the High Jump at 5’6” and sixth in the 400 m (57.38).

Norman Peterson took third in the Discus for Weed (112’11”). The best finish for the Weed varsity girls was Hilary Vancil in seventh place in the 800 m (3:07.07).

Dunsmuir had a good showing by Theresa Kessler who finished fifth in the Shot Put (28’10.50) and eighth in the Discus (67’08). Chelsea MacGinniss was sixth in the 200 m (30.29). Anna Van Ert finished seventh int eh Discus (67’10).

Dunsmuir’s Nate Gonzales led the Tigers, finishing fifth in the Long Jump (17’01) and sixth in the Shot Put (33’04.00). Gonzales was also part of the 4×100 m relay team that finished second in Division-IV and sixth overall (49.72). The other members were Matt Norton, Corey Knowles, and Jay Rhodes.
