YREKA – The Yreka Lady Miners pounded out an 8-3 win over the Corning Cardinals, last Friday—their second Northern Athletic League win. Yreka’s ace, Tianna Cruz struck out 15 batters, including the last five of the game to squash a
“Our ace righty, Tianna Cruz, had her best game of the year,” said Coach Rick Landrum. Landrum also had high praise for his center fielder..
“Shastina Cloyd made an outstanding, running, shoestring catch in center field,” said Landrum.
The catch was the third out of the inning and saved multiple runs from scoring.
Haley Weldon and Cruz led the Yreka offensive attack. They each scored a pair of runs, went 2/3, and took a walk. Makayla Lindley was 2/4. Tailer Johnson went 1/3, with a double. Danci Burch walked and scored twice. Rachel Luetke and Alyssa Andrews both went 1/3.
