YREKA – The Yreka Lady Miners picked up a win against the Corning Lady Cardinals (2-2, 16-12) on Thursday, 6-1, but fell to the league-leading West Valley Lady Eagles (6-0, 20-8-1) on Friday, 10-0.

Lady Miner Leyva had a monster day at the plate, going 2-2, with a long-ball, a triple, a run, five RBI, and a walk. Ashlie Smith went 2-3, with a run, and an RBI. Sara Jones was 2-4, with two runs. Kaitlin Weckerle went 2-4, with two steals. Brie Phillips scored two runs, going 1-3. Kayla Graves registered the complete game win (7IP, ER, 5H, BB, 6K).
Yreka spent one day back over .500 in the Northern Athletic League before dropping to even at 3-3 (11-13), with the loss to West Valley. The Lady Eagles had a 1-0 lead after the first inning, and added two more runs in the second to up the margin to 3-0. Mean while, four of the first seven Lady Miners headed for the pine via strikeouts.
