Lady Tigers clinch Evergreen League with sweep of Bulldogs

DUNSMUIR – The Dunsmuir Lady Tigers swept the Butte Valley Bulldogs in a double header on Wednesday, winning 17-7 and 14-8. Dunsmuir finished the season with a record of 6-4 in the Evergreen and 6-6 overall. The Lady Tigers were ranked sixth in NSCIF D-VI playoff points coming into the week.
It was
Dunsmuir’s first three batters reached on walks. Taylor Fesler, Jamie Kirch, and Jenifer Hope scored when Regina Rodarmel was hit by a pitch, and Theresa Kessler reached on an error. The Lady Tigers led 3-2 after one inning.
Hope singled in the second inning to drive in Fesler, and later scored on a passed ball, upping Dunsmuir’s lead to 5-2.
Yeager, Anna Makinen, Porterfield, and Nicole Levesque crossed the plate in the top of the third inning for
Dunsmuir, however, took control of the game with seven runs in the bottom half of the third. Rodarmel took a lead off walk. Kessler was hit by a pitch. With one out, Rose Spagnolo singled in Rodarmel, and Kessler moved to third base. Fesler picked up an RBI, driving in Kessler and advancing Spagnolo to second with a base hit.
Jamie Kirch plated Spagnolo and Fesler with a single. Kirch moved to second on a ground out, and to third on an error. Krystal Palmer reached on an error, and Brianna Wallace was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Palmer scored on an error and Wallace came home when Kessler was hit by a pitch, extending Dunsmuir’s lead to 12-6.
The Lady Tigers went on to win game-one 17-7.
Jamie Kirch led the Tiger attack going 1/2, scoring three runs, driving in three runs, and taking a walk. Taylor Fesler scored four runs, drove in two and swiped a pair of bases. Jenifer Hope went 1/3, with two runs, an RBI, and a walk. Rose Spagnolo was 1/2, with two runs, an RBI, and a pair of walks. Krystal Palmer went the distance in the circle and recorded the win.
The Lady Tigers jumped to an 8-0 lead in game-two, scoring a run in the first, and seven runs in the second inning. The Bulldogs countered with five runs in the top of the third inning, but the Lady Tigers answered with four runs in the bottom half, making it a 12-5 game.
Dunsmuir pushed its lead to 14-5 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Bulldogs scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning, to make the final 14-8.
Krystal Palmer drove in four runs and scored a pair, while going 2/2, with two doubles. Taylor Fesler was 2/2, with four runs, a walk, a double, and two steals. Jenifer Hope went 1/2, with two runs, two RBI, a walk, and a steal. Regina Rodarmel was 1/2, with a run, two RBI, and a walk. Krystal Palmer picked up her second win of the day.
