WEED - The College of the Siskiyous is pleased to announce Laura McMahon is the winner of a $250 College Options Scholarship.

A graduate of Pleasant Valley High School in Chico, she began attending College of the Siskiyous during the fall 2007 semester. McMahon enjoys playing volleyball, reading, bike riding, and watching movies. An outdoor enthusiast, McMahon completed her first hike up Half Dome in Yosemite last summer, and is interested in pursuing a career in wildlife biology.

At COS, McMahon plays on the Lady Eagles volleyball team, and works as a student worker in the Financial Aid Office. Following her graduation from COS in May 2009, McMahon plans to transfer to UC Santa Barbara and major in zoology.

Earlier this year, McMahon also received the Neil Schanker Memorial Biology Scholarship from the COS Foundation.
