SUTTER - The Yreka Miners boys’ basketball team’s improbable and seemingly impossible run through the NSCIF D-IV playoff field continued with a 65-52 win over second-seeded Sutter in the semifinals. The win propels the Miners (8-17) into the section championship game against one-seed Central Valley (24-3) this Saturday at Chico State. The game is scheduled for 4:15 pm.

Leading Yreka was Brandon Meeks with 14 points and 4 steals. Jimmy Kutzer was 7-for-8 from the free throw line and had 13 points and 10 rebounds. Jeremy Turner and Andrew Ward each had 12 points. Turner had 11 boards and Ward pulled down 10. Aaron Sinnott contributed 8 points and 6 assists.
