Miners’ late rally comes up short against U-Prep

Girdner Trailing U-Prep 3-0 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, the Yreka Miners scored two runs, with Landon Hatcher and Tim Soli crossing the plate.

U-Prep (4-0, 12-5-1), who had scored single runs in the 4th, 5th and 6th innings, added one more in the 7th, to lead 4-2.

The Miners were unable to respond in their last a bat, and fell to 1-3 in the Northern Athletic League and 6-12 overall.

Tyler Johnson was 1/3 with an RBI for Yreka. Jeremy Persing had the only other hit for the Miners and went 1/4. He also stole a base. Kyle Woodward took three walks, and Cale Cool had a pair of strolls, as well as two swipes.

Yreka goes to West Valley (0-4, 10-15) next Tuesday.
