ms-invitational-1-front.jpgMOUNT SHASTA – The Mt. Shasta Invitational was held last Friday at Shastice Park, with about 500 junior high and high school runners.

Yreka’s Kevin Jorgenson was the top local runner, finishing fifth in the Men’s Varsity 4,000 meters (14:06.00). Other locals in the top 20 were Yreka Miners Chris Lopez in twelfth (14:21.00) and Aiden McKee in fourteenth (14:23.00).

Jarod Salinas-Dick was Mt. Shasta’s top finisher in thirty-ninth clarity.jpg(15:39.00). Daniel Bohling from Weed was eighty-second (17:01.10). Javier Hansen was Etna’s top runner in the 4,000 at ninety-eighth (17:54.00).

Jilinda Franklin from Etna HS was the top local in the Women’s Varsity 4,000 meters in twelfth place (17:19.00). Cynthia Laiacona was tops for Mt. Shasta in fifteenth (17:32.00), followed closely by Yreka’s Carrie Turner in sixteenth (17:34.00). Weed’s Hillary Vancil finished seventy-sixth (23:16.00).

Chelsea Quigley of Weed cracked the top 20 in the Women’s Junior Varsity 4,000 meters in sixteenth (20:09.00). Jillian Dutra was nineteenth for Yreka (20:22.00). The top runner for Mt. Shasta was Jennifer Rubio in twenty-seventh (20:55.00). Brittany Dean finished thirty-ninth for Etna (21:56.00).

In the Men’s Junior Varsity 4,000 meters, Weed’s Ryan Coates was twenty-second (16:34.00). Gavin Poore led Mt. Shasta in thirty-first (16:55.00). Yreka’s top runner was Chase Brown, who was thirty-ninth (17:07.00).
