northerncapaving-300.jpgThe North Section CIF announced the first volleyball playoff points rankings of the season on Monday.

Dunsmuir (9-8) is the Siskiyou County team in the best position within its division, ranked seventh in D-VI, ahead of Greenville (8-10) and behind Princeton (10-8). Other county D-VI teams are Butte Valley (5-5) in twelfth, Happy Camp (2-5) in fifteenth, and Tulelake (2-20) in eighteenth.

Etna (16-15-2) is ranked tenth in D-V. Chester (17-12-5) and Esparto (10-7) are tied for eighth. Etna leads Mercy (14-13). Weed (2-13) is ranked sixteenth in D-V.

Yreka (3-14-1) is ranked tenth in D-IV, and Mt. Shasta (3-10) is at number-12.

Divisions IV, V, and VI have 16-team playoffs, making Dunsmuir, Etna, Butte Valley, and Yreka currently eligible for the playoffs, with Dunsmuir sitting in a position to host a first round game. Rankings can change considerably as the teams finish out their seasons.

Mt. Shasta and Weed, although ranked high enough, may not be able to participate due to a Shasta Cascade League that requires a .500 record overall, in the division, or in league.
