Ray’s went down
Neither team scored in the second inning, but SVB got the offense cranked up again in the bottom of the third inning. Hawkins led off with a double, and scored on a hit by Munson. Hildebrand reached on a fielder’s choice, which resulted in no out being recorded. Munson moved to second on the FC. Tristen Burns-Edel reached on an error, and Munson scored. Hildebrand advanced to third base. Marc Federico drove in Hildebrand with a ground out to second base. At the end of three innings, it was SVB 6 – Ray’s 0.
Ray’s got on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth inning, without a single hit. Robbie Munson led off with a walk. Munson went to second on an errant pickoff attempt, and moved to third on a ground out by Travis Parry. Will Johnson hit a fly ball to right field, and Munson scored on the tag up, making it 6-1.
Tanner Schaefer relieved Ray’s starting pitcher, Hank Johnson, in the bottom of the fourth inning. SVB’s Colby Rimmer led off the bottom half with a walk, and stole second base. Detrick singled to score Rimmer, and make it 7-1.
SVB picked up another run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Burns-Edel led off with a walk, and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Andy Nadig. Burns-Edel went to third on a wild pitch and also scored on a wild pitch, to give SVB an 8-1 lead after five innings.
Ray’s went down in order in the top of the sixth, but SVB scored their final two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Detrick walked with one out, and stole second base. Hawkins walked. Both runners moved up a base on a sacrifice bunt by Munson. Hildebrand reached on an error, and both Detrick and Hawkins scored to make it 10-1.
Despite SVB’s commanding lead, the game wasn’t over just yet. Parry led off the bottom of the seventh with a walk for Ray’s. Johnson reached on an error and moved to second, while Parry scampered all the way to third base. The next Ray’s batter went down swinging. Parry scored on a groundout by Schaefer. That, however, would be Ray’s only run in the final frame, and Scott Valley Bank notched the win 10-2.
Munson led SVB’s offense going 2-3, with two runs, three RBI, a steal, and a sacrifice. Hawkins also went 2-3, with three runs, a walk, a steal, and a double. Detrick was 1-2, with two runs, an RBI, a steal, and a pair of walks. Rimmer went 1-3, with a run, two steals, and a walk. Hildebrand was 1-4, with a run and an RBI. Josh Jordan recorded the win for SVB (4IP, R, H, 2BB, 3K). Munson pitched three strong innings to finish out the game (R, H, BB, 2K).
For Ray’s, Schaefer was 1-3, with an RBI. Munson and Parry each walked and scored a run. Tyler Murphy went 1-3.
