YREKA – The Siskiyou County Mutton Busting Championship will be held at the Siskiyou Golden Fair on Saturday, August 15 during the fair rodeo. This first-ever event is sponsored by the 10th DAA Friends of the Fair.
“We are very excited to have this contest during the fair,” said fair CEO Rebecca Desmond. “It will be just like the Siskiyou County Saddle Cow Championship where we take winners from the county’s annual rodeos and they compete at the fair for the championship.”
The first place winners from the Montague Junior Rodeo (May 23-24); Sheriff’s Posse (June 27); Scott Valley Junior Rodeo (May 25); Scott Valley Pleasure Park Rodeo (May 3); and the Scott Valley Pleasure Park Old Timers Rodeo (July 25) will compete as the first event at the Siskiyou Golden Fair Rodeo. The riders will be timed and judged and the lucky winner will go home with a shiny belt buckle donated by the Friends of the Fair.
The Fair will no longer be taking individual mutton busting entries. Please contact the above rodeos for information on their mutton busting competitions.
