Thursday is Kid’s Day at the Siskiyou Golden Fair, and Clay Walker in Concert
Posted by Ray Wolf under GeneralYREKA - Thursday, Aug. 7, is McDonald’s Kids Day, with kids 12 and under getting in free all day The day starts off with Kids Games at 10:00 am with Lanky the Clown, as well as fun entertainment all day long. Pepsi Bottling Co. of Mount Shasta presents Clay Walker and Steve Holy in the Scott Valley Bank Grandstand that evening (tickets required).
Lanky the Clown is one of the most energetic and colorful clowns on the fair circuit. With over 25 years of clowning experience, Lanky and friends have traveled the world to bring smiles and laughter to over 10 different countries.
In addition, international goodwill clowning tours and church clowning are part of his dedication to the art. He has repeatedly toured Russia and Guatemala, and has toured Afghanistan and Cambodia as part of an
International Coalition of Clowns put together by renowned Medical Doctor, Patch Adams - yes the same Patch from the famed movie. The concept was to take the simple universal language of clowning to the children of that war torn country. Thousands of children were visited, many in hospitals and orphanages. This tour was undertaken at great risk to the thirty or so clowns from around the world that took part in it. Most of the tour participants returned to their home counties feeling enriched for the opportunity.
The Siskiyou Golden Fair is proud have Lanky at the fair this year, a clown who shares his gifts with the community—the world community. He’ll be strolling the grounds as well as emceeing the Senior Program on Friday and the Diaper Derby on Sunday.
Chart-topping country singer Clay Walker will be the headline act at the 2008 Siskiyou Golden Fair on Thursday, with fellow country hit maker Steve Holy opening the show.
“We are very excited about this line-up,” said fair CEO Rebecca Desmond. “We have been striving hard each year to bring a quality concert to Siskiyou County and this one certainly fits the bill.”
Whether on stage or in the recording studio, Walker never gives less than a hundred percent, and it’s that kind of dedicated work ethic combined with God-given talent that have made him one of the most successful country acts of the past decade. He first topped the Billboard country singles chart in 1993 with “What’s It to You” and followed with his second consecutive No. 1 hit, “Live Until I Die.” Since then he’s placed 31 titles on Billboard’s singles chart including such additional chart toppers as “Dreaming with my Eyes Open,” “If I Could Make Living,” “This Woman and This Man,” and “Rumor Has It.” (The latter two songs each spent two weeks at the summit.) He’s enjoyed his share of success and has consistently been one of the busiest artists on the road. He’s scored four platinum-selling albums, signifying sales of a million units, and two gold albums, discs that sold over 500,000 units.
