Baseball

All divisions in baseball have an eight team playoff.

The Dunsmuir Tigers (10-3) are ranked first in Division-VI ahead of Redding Christian (13-10-0). However, Redding Christian holds the head-to-head advantage and may leap frog Dunsmuir.

Butte Valley (2-15) is ranked sixth in D-VI behind Big Valley (3-14) and ahead of Happy Camp (0-6).

The Etna Lions (12-13) hold the two-spot in D-IV behind Portola (22-4) and ahead of Chester (11-5).

Tulelake (12-9-1) is ranked third in D-V, behind Fall River (18-8) and ahead of Loyalton (10-8).

Yreka (10-17) is ranked ninth in D-II, trailing Anderson (9-14). However, Yreka swept Anderson during the season and should move into the eighth and final playoff spot.

Mt. Shasta (7-22), ranked ninth in D-III will likely miss the playoffs.

Softball

Divisions IV and VI have eight team playoffs. Division-V has a 16 team playoff.

The Etna Lady Lions (24-7) are ranked second in D-V, ahead of Fall River (21-9). They trail Colusa (25-2-2).

Despite going 4-0 last week, the Mt. Shasta Bears (24-6) dropped from fourth to fifth in D-IV behind Corning (11-7-1) and Live Oak (17-3) which are tied for third. Behind Mt. Shasta is Winters (15-11).Yreka (13-13) is ranked seventh in D-IV behind Winters, and ahead of Anderson (9-16).

The division-IV softball seeding could get ugly. Mt. Shasta holds the head-to-head advantage on Corning. Yreka is currently ahead of Corning in the Northern Athletic league. If that holds, Yreka must be seeded ahead of Corning. Based on past outcomes in similar situations, someone is likely going to get ripped off.

Dunsmuir (6-6) is tied with Redding Christian (11-12-1) for fifth in D-VI. Happy Camp (2-4) is ninth.

Neither Weed baseball nor softball will make the playoffs.
